County Ch'ship Division Two, Northampton: day one (close) Northampshire v Somerset 361-2
Trescothick acknowledges the applause for his century
Marcus Trescothick struck his first century in first-class cricket for a year as Somerset amassed 361-2 on day one against Northants at Wantage Road.
Trescothick missed the Ashes tour last winter due to further stress-related problems, but he could figure in the first Test with West Indies on 17 May.
He is sure to have caught the eye of new coach Peter Moores with an unbeaten 185 featuring 22 fours and three sixes.
Trescothick was on 74 at lunch and reached his century from 173 balls.
He was batting with Australia's former Test batting star Justin Langer, Somerset's captain, after Monty Panesar had bowled Neil Edwards just before lunch.
Langer helped him add 196 for the second wicket but fell 14 short of a century as Panesar struck again.
