The Professional Cricketers' Association has called for a reduction in the required number of overs bowled per day in first-class cricket.
Players want to see the number reduced from 104 to 96 with the new ball available to be taken after 80 overs.
In a statement, the PCA said: "The changes would reflect cricket in other nations and bring the game more in line with Test cricket."
Each day of a Test is assigned 90 overs with the new ball available after 80.
