Umpires Peter Willey and Trevor Jesty had no choice but to declare Hampshire's Pro40 game with Surrey a no result because of heavy rain.
Officials attempted to delay the start time until 2050 BST but torrential rainfall rendered the pitch unplayable.
The match was the Rose Bowl's first day/night game of the season.
A point for each team did little in their respective attempts to catch Gloucestershire at the top of the Division Two table.
