Twenty20 Cup quarter-final, Trent Bridge: Notts 213-6 (20 ovs) bt Northants 150-6 (20 ovs)
An explosive innings of 71 from David Hussey saw Notts into the semi-finals with a 63-run win over Northants.
Hussey smashed five sixes and five fours in his 34-ball knock, sharing 121 with Samit Patel, who made 65 featuring five fours and four sixes.
Chasing a formidable 214, Northants soon lost Sourav Ganguly, who sliced to the cover boundary for five.
South African Lance Klusener hit five sixes in a defiant unbeaten 72 but received little support.
There was also a moment of controversy when Northants' Riki Wessels was run out in bizarre circumstances and ended up leaving the field on a stretcher.
Wessels had ended up at the same end as Shafayat but both
batsmen appeared to think the ball was dead.
Wessels ended up having to sprint to the other end but his dive was unable to beat the throw.
Shafayat was seen remonstrating with one of the umpires over the
incident.
