Twenty20 Cup quarter-final, Chelmsford: Essex 149-5 (19.2ovs) bt Yorks 143-7 (20ovs) by 5 wkts
Essex completed the Twenty20 Cup finals day line-up by beating Yorkshire by five wickets at Chelmsford.
The visitors, batting first, made 143-7 from their 20 overs with Gerard Brophy hitting 43 and Darren Lehmann striking a stunning unbeaten 40.
Mark Pettini (23) and Ronnie Irani (16) kick-started the Essex reply with ex-Tykes hero Darren Gough adding 12.
And a 76-run stand from James Foster (47no) and Ryan ten Doeschate saw the Eagles home with four balls to spare.
Earlier, Yorkshire's innings never really got into top gear in the face of some accurate Essex bowling, especially from Tim Phillips, whose four overs of left-arm spin yielded just 2-11.
Gough then put Yorkshire on the back foot by having Michael Lumb superbly caught on the square leg boundary from the third ball of the innings.
And before Brophy got into his stride, Andy Bichel removed Craig White and Anthony McGrath with successive deliveries.
When Essex replied, Mark Pettini blasted Jason Gillespie into the mid-wicket stand for two sixes in the third over of the innings.
But while Andrew Gale's dismissal led to Essex momentarily losing their way, South African ten Doeschate and Foster came together to guide them to victory.
