County Championship D2, Northampton (day three, stumps): Surrey 328 & 75-1; Northamptonshire 300
Runaway Division Two leaders Surrey were in a competitive contest against Northamptonshire at Wantage Road after two days of their Championship match.
Surrey had to settle for a first innings lead of just 28 after Usman Afzaal hit an unbeaten 136 to help the hosts to a solid 300 all out.
Afzaal received important support from David Sales, Lance Klusener and Riki Wessels to hit 19 fours and a six.
Surrey were 75-1 at the close after Scott Newman had fallen cheaply.
