They call it the Twenty20 Big Bash in Australia and 6ft 3ins all-rounder Thornely is one of the reasons why.
Down under, Thornely hit his Twenty20 runs at 150 per 100 balls, helping New South Wales into the final.
After a spell with Surrey last season, during which he broke a window in the Lord's pavilion with a six, Thornely has had a quiet start with Hampshire.
