MCC University match, Taunton: Cardiff UCCE 302-5 dec drew with Somerset 205-2
Somerset's Arul Suppiah was denied a century but captain Ian Blackwell got some useful batting practice as rain brought a draw with Cardiff UCCE.
Suppiah was unbeaten on 93 and Blackwell - on his return from a back injury - 38 not out when bad weather intervened at 1615 BST on the last day.
The students declared on their overnight 302-5, of which Malaysia-born spinner Suppiah took two wickets.
Neil Edwards hit 66 in reply before retiring to bring Blackwell in to bat.
Blackwell was pleased to see Suppiah and Edwards in the runs.
"Arul played very well and its great to see him in some form because he is going to be an influential part of the squad coming up to the Twenty20," he said.
"Neil has had a bit of a frustrating time so it¿s great to see him apply himself and get a half century.
"I needed to have a bat so he retired on 66, but it was very pleasing to see him getting runs."
