County Championship D1, Trent Bridge, day one (stumps): Nottinghamshire v Durham 88-1
Durham made steady progress to make 88-1 in the 37.5 overs possible on a rain-hit day against Nottinghamshire.
Jon Lewis (36 not out) and Jimmy Maher put on 62 after Stephen Fleming won the toss and put the visitors in to bat in overcast conditions at Trent Bridge.
Paul Franks made the breakthrough when he had Maher caught by Jason Gallian for 33 made off 71 balls.
But Lewis plodded on and had faced 122 balls when the rain came, with partner Gordon Muchall unbeaten on 12.
Notts' disciplined bowling display was led by left-armer Ryan Sidebottom, who conceded 20 runs from his 11 overs, while all-rounder Mark Ealham sent down five maidens in his eight-over spell.
Franks struck with a wider delivery which Maher drove in the air through short extra-cover, where Gallian leapt to his left for an outstanding catch.
Muchall edged short of David Hussey at second slip and then survived an lbw appeal in the following over, but there were no further alarms.
