C&G Trophy, Belfast: Surrey 100-2 (15 overs) v Ireland - match abandoned due to rain, 1 pt each
James Benning's aggressive half century provided a brief highlight before rain forced the abandonment of Surrey's C&G Trophy tie against Ireland in Belfast.
Benning raced to 61 not out off 41 balls, with two sixes and seven fours, before the weather intervened with Surrey 100-2 after 15 overs.
They made a bad start when Jon Batty was bowled for nought by home skipper Trent Johnston's second delivery.
Mark Butcher followed for 24 when he was caught off Dave Langford-Smith.
The teams took an early lunch in the hope that the skies would clear, but it proved a vain hope and the umpires decided to call it a day.
