County Championship D1, Edgbaston, day two (stumps): Warwickshire 160-5 v Hampshire 405
Warwickshire's Jim Troughton struck an unbeaten 74 but Hampshire remain in command at Edgbaston, with the home side 245 runs adrift at 160-5.
John Crawley made slow progress to 96 before he was lbw to a quicker one from spinner Alex Loudon, who claimed 5-109.
In reply to 405, The Bears lost Nick Knight and Ian Trott as James Bruce caused problems in his opening spell.
Shane Warne struck in his third over but Troughton hit 10 fours to pass fifty for the third time in four games.
Crawley took a painstaking 30 overs to score his final 31 runs, but it was later revealed that he was suffering from a virus.
As ever, Warne found some sharp turn when it was Hampshire's turn to bowl, but took himself off after only two overs before immediately finding the top-edge of Michael Powell when switching to the Pavilion End.
Warwickshire's difficult progress was epitomised by a lone pheasant that crept on to the outfield and was able to amble freely without being hit by the ball.
