Surrey edge in front before rain
County Championship D1, Trent Bridge, day two (stumps): Surrey 136 & 93-3 v Nottinghamshire 226

Surrey eked out a slender overall lead over Notts on a second day at Trent Bridge reduced to 41 overs by rain.

The hosts, 185-8 overnight, totalled 226 in their first innings thanks to Mark Ealham's 55 - the only half-century in the match to date.

Martin Bicknell cleaned up the tail to take 6-56 - his 43rd five-wicket haul.

Surrey were 93-3 when players were forced from the field - three runs to the good - with Scott Newman hitting an attractive 40 at the top of the order.
