Surrey go slow with draw looming
County Championship D1, Guildford, day three:
Surrey 452-8d & 173-2 v Kent 572

The Guildford wicket continued to tax the Kent and Surrey bowlers as the hosts racked up 173-2 in their second innings to lead by 53 with a day to go.

Jon Batty (55) and Richard Clinton (45) put on 107 for the first wicket but did not exactly score their runs in a hurry with a draw already on the cards.

Earlier Matthew Walker (173) and Justin Kemp (124) finally had their fifth wicket stand ended by Azhar Mahmood.

By then it was worth 233 and Kent were finally all out for a mammoth 572.
