Rob Key and Martin van Jaarsveld helped themsleves to centuries as Kent established a very healthy lead over Surrey on day three at Tunbridge Wells.
Although 62 runs behind on the first innings, Kent could afford to declare on 467-4 - setting Surrey 406 to win.
England Test hopeful Key struck 189 - his second ton of the match - while Van Jaarsveld hit 21 fours in his 168.
The pair put on 323 runs together for the third wicket before Key was stumped off Nayan Doshi (1-124).
Surrey, docked eight points by the ECB earlier in the day for ball-tampering, then reached 11-0 in seven overs before stumps.
