Middlesex out after late collapse

Northamptonshire 238 beat Middlesex 219 by 19 runs

Aussie Wright bowled brilliantly at the death to deny Middlesex

Northamptonshire advanced to the quarter-finals of the C&G Trophy after Middlesex imploded at Lord's.

The visitors, who won the toss and batted first, were dismissed for 238 on the final ball of the innings with Usman Afzaal top-scoring with 75.

Opener Paul Weekes made 105 off 148 balls, but the hosts fell for 219 in the final over after losing their last six wickets for eight runs.

Damien Wright (4-38) bowled Weekes among four strikes at the death.

Afzaal was caught off Alan Richardson, whose figures of of 3-46 were matched by Melvyn Betts.
