County Championship D1, The Oval, day four: Surrey 378 & 302 drew with Hampshire 361-6 dec
Hampshire 11 pts, Surrey 10
Hampshire skipper Shaun Udal claimed his second five-wicket haul of the summer as their game against Surrey at The Oval petered out to a draw.
The two sides were unable to make up for the loss of the first day's play.
Resuming on 7-0, Richard Clinton top scored with 51 as Surrey batted through the final day to total 302.
Udal took 5-65 and a mid-wicket catch when number 11 Mohammad Akram became John Crawley's second first-class victim in his 300th appearance.
Mark Ramprakash shared a second wicket stand of 93 with Clinton, contributing 37 before becoming Udal's first victim, caught at short leg.
Clinton eventually fell to Greg Lamb after a two and a quarter hour knock containing eight fours, but useful innings followed from Mark Butcher (45), Ali Brown (42) and Tim Murtagh (44 not out).
Butcher had the option of declaring at tea and setting Hampshire a target of 237 from 32 overs, but instead decided in favour of more batting practice for his side.
Hampshire's 11 points was enough to keep them on the fringe of the title race behind leaders Sussex, Kent and Notts.
