Batty stars for dominant Surrey
County Championship D1, The Oval (day two, close): Surrey 378 v Hampshire 28-2

Wicket-keeper Jonathan Batty starred as Hampshire limped to 28-2 in reply to Surrey's 378 on the first day's play in Division One at The Oval.

Batty pouched both Michael Brown (0) and Sean Ervine (2) off Mohammad Akram after scoring 124 off 212 balls, including 20 fours, for Surrey.

Mark Butcher hit 75 and Scott Newman added 71 after Surrey lost Richard Clinton with only one run on the board.

Hants' Shaun Udal removed the last three wickets for no runs for 3-65.

Wednesday's opening day was washed out because of heavy rain in London.
