Hampshire hold firm to claim draw
County Championship D1, The Rose Bowl, day four (close): Kent 446 & 185; Hampshire 325 & 241-8

Kent were not quite able to finish off Hampshire but their 12 point total from the match extended their lead at the top of Division One to 20.5.

They set Hampshire 307 and the home side started well with a stand of 95 between Sean Ervine and John Crawley.

Simon Cook captured three wickets with his seamers to give his team hope, and Andrew Hall took the eighth wicket when he bowled Dimitri Mascarenhas for six.

But Nic Pothas held out for 51 balls for his 15 as Hampshire held on.
