Blackwell stops Derbyshire short
County Championship D2, Derby:
Somerset 460 & 245-5 dec beat Derbyshire 438-8 dec & 262 by five runs

Derbyshire were stopped just five runs short of their first Championship win for 13 months as Somerset triumphed.

New Somerset skipper Ian Blackwell hit 88 not out from 85 balls before declaring on 245-5 then took 4-86 against his former club.

Set a target of 268 with 44 overs, Derbyshire got perilously close thanks to a blazing century from Jon Moss.

But wickets fell as the required rate rose and Luke Sutton was run out with two balls left to finish the contest.
