County Championship D1, Lord's: Middlesex 437 v Surrey 157-2 (day two, stumps)
Graham Thorpe fell cheaply as Surrey replied to Middlesex's 437 with 157-2, before bad light intervened at Lord's.
The home side added a further 118 from their final three wickets on the second morning, Irfan Pathan with some lusty blows off compatriot Harbhajan Singh.
Pathan hit 11 fours in his 68 from 93 balls and shared 98 with Ben Scott.
Thorpe arrived after Mark Ramprakash retired hurt, but edged behind for four, Richard Clinton with 73 off 176 balls anchoring the innings.
However, Thorpe did look decidedly unlucky to be given out, having apparently hit his own pad with the bat rather than the ball.
Alan Richardson took the two Surrey wickets to fall.
