Surrey 402 v Northamptonshire 304-9

Northamptonshire stayed afloat on an awkward spinners' pitch in their relegation scrap at home to Surrey.

Half-centuries from Tim Roberts (57) debutant Martin Love (51) and captain David Sales (50 not out) took them to 304-9 by stumps in reply to 402.

With 4-87, including two in an slow left-armer Nayan Doshi was the pick of the visiting attack.

Surrey had managed just 20 more runs in the morning as spinner Jason Brown completed a season-best haul of 5-113.
