Surrey's Jon Batty and Ali Brown kept Warwickshire busy in the field as the Division One leaders endured a tough third day at Guildford.

The home side were 363-7 at the close, a lead of 157 after they had been asked to follow on by Nick Knight.

Dismissed for 331 in their first innings, Surrey were staring at defeat after slumping to 24-3.

But Batty (145) and Brown (103) put on 200 and Tim Murtagh was only six short of a personal best on 47 at the close.
