Ian Bell and Mike Powell struck centuries as Championship leaders Warwickshire got off to fine start on day one against Surrey at Guildford.
After losing the toss, the Bears reached 390-5 at stumps with Bell making 155 and Powell, preferred to Jim Troughton in this match, hitting 110.
The pair added 214 runs for the third wicket, Bell striking 24 boundaries and Powell hitting the fence 13 times.
Phil Sampson ousted opener Mark Wagh for a duck before returning 3-79.
