Unlucky Worcs held to draw

The bad weather sweeping the nation deprived Worcestershire a derserved win as Surrey clung on for a draw at New Road.

Surrey started the final day on 167-6 in their second innings, still 78 runs behind the hosts.

But rain came to their aid, with just 16 overs possible. Worcestershire took two wickets to reduce the 2002 champions to 187-8 at the close.

England batsman Graham Thorpe was a rock, making 26 not out off 60 balls.
