Surrey's hopes of sealing victory over Gloucestershire were frustrated by the weather on day three at The Oval.

Over two hours were lost to rain as the hosts took a first innings lead of 230after Alistair Brown moved to 170.

James Ormond (39) and Tim Murtagh (33 not out) then added 50 for the ninth wicket to post 508 all out.

But just two overs were possible in Gloucestershire's reply, the visitors reaching 4-0 off a Craig Spearman boundary, before bad light closed in.
