Dalrymple dominates Surrey

Middlesex set their sights on the first Championship double over Surrey for 21 years after extending their lead on a rain-hit third day at The Oval.

In the 34-overs available after a start at 1615 BST, Jamie Dalrymple extendied his overnight 182 to a career best 244.

Chad Keegan joined him to smash 44 off 52 balls to take the visitors to 487-9 before Owais Shah declared.

And Keegan had Surrey skipper Jon Batty lbw in the last over of the day to leave the home side 11-1 - 117 behind.

Scott Newman was left four not out overnight.

In all, former Oxford captain Dalrymple faced 306 balls in an innings that spanned almost six-and-a-half hours, hitting 38 fours.
