County Championship D1, Hove, day four: Surrey 283 & 311 beat Sussex 271 & 286 by 37 runs
Surrey 19 pts, Sussex 5
Spinner Nayan Doshi returned career best figures of 7-110 to bowl Surrey to a 37-run win over Sussex at Hove on the final day of the county season.
The home side were left with a victory target of 324 after bowling out Surrey for 311, with Ali Brown hitting 123.
But they were soon in trouble on 49-3 before Murray Goodwin and Chris Adams revived them with a stand of 109.
Goodwin made 119 before he was bowled by James Ormond and Doshi ran through the tail as Sussex were all out for 286.
It gave him match figures of 10-183 to add to the 11 wickets he took to bowl Surrey to victory over Lancashire earlier this month.
Sussex's left-arm seamer Jason Lewry claimed 5-66 earlier in the day as the visitors added 51 runs to their overnight 260-6.
More than half of them came from Brown, whose century was his 36th in first-class cricket.
Surrey wasted no time introducing Doshi into the attack after Tim Murtagh had Richard Montgomerie caught behind for a duck and he soon picked up the wickets of Michael Yardy (25) and Tony Cottey.
He later accepted a return catch offered by Adams (41) and although Matt Prior contributed a useful 39, his dismissal followed immediately after by that of Goodwin effetively ended the Sussex challenge.
