Oxford UCCE held on gamely at The Parks to force a draw against 2002 county champions Surrey.

Surrey looked sure to wrap things up when reducing the students to 115-8 despite a dogged 56 to opening batsman Joe Sayers.

But they could not find a way past Amit Suman (24 not out) and former England Under-19 captain Paul McMahon, who faced 83 balls for his 10 not out.

Surrey earlier declared their second dig on 164-5 after resuming play 62-1.
