County Championship D1, Old Trafford (day one, stumps): Lancashire 346-7 v Surrey
Ali Brown hit 144 not out in Surrey's score of 346-7 against Lancashire on day one of the Championship encounter at Old Trafford on Thursday.
Lancashire were in a superb position when they had the visitors 58-4 early on, with Mark Butcher and Mark Ramprakash both dismissed cheaply.
But Brown found support from Jon Batty and Tim Murtagh, the latter making 63 not out batting at number nine.
Sajid Mahmood dismissed both Butcher and Ramprakash in figures of 3-52.
