Surrey push on in the wet
County Championship D1, Canterbury, day three (stumps): Kent 226 v Surrey 337-6

Just 19 overs were bowled on the rain-hit third day of the Championship match between Kent and Surrey at Canterbury that could be headed for a draw.

Surrey moved from 263-5 to 337-6 at stumps, a lead of 111 runs.

If there is to be a winner it will surely be Surrey, who to their credit batted with purpose.

Jon Batty was the only batsman to fall, bowled by Robert Joseph for 46, but Ali Brown (44 not out) and Azhar Mahmood (19 not out) kept the scoring going.
