Surrey stay bottom
Totesport League D1, Whitgift: Lancashire 238-2 beat Surrey 235-8 by nine wickets

Surrey remain rooted to the bottom of the Division One table in the Totesport League after losing to Lancashire.

Jon Batty's men hit 235-8 batting first at Whitgift School, recovering from 72-6 as Adam Hollioake and Alex Tudor put on 128 for the seventh wicket.

But Mark Chilton and Iain Sutcliffe destroyed the Surrey bowlers, both hitting centuries and putting on 223 for the first wicket.

The victory was achieved in the 39th over of the run chase.

The partnership between Chilton and Sutcliffe was a Lancashire record for any wicket in the competition, beating the 197 made by John Crawley and Graham Lloyd against Durham at Old Trafford in 1997.
