With seven weeks left in the season, BBC Sport looks at the major issues left to be resolved in county cricket.
Title favourites: Nottinghamshire
Set for promotion: Hampshire, Glamorgan
With 22 points available in any match and most teams still to play five more, only bottom side Durham are certain not to figure in the tussle for three promotion places.
David Hussey has been a brilliant addition to the Notts line-up

However, three teams have stood out from the pack for much of the season and stand in the way of any other promotion pretenders.
Bottom in Division One last year, Notts retooled their attack with the arrivals of Mark Ealham and Ryan Sidebottom and have prospered after Paul Franks's long-awaited return to form.
But the most crucial addition has been Australian batsman David Hussey, who emulated his older brother Mike's hunger for runs in averaging almost 70 at a terrifying rate.
Hampshire have been inspired by the captaincy, and wickets, of Shane Warne and the continued development of all-rounder Dimitri Mascarenhas.
Wicket-keeper Nic Pothas has again been a heavy run-scorer and Australian Michael Clarke has been consistent if not as prolific as expected.
Glamorgan rely heavily on the runs of Australian opener Matthew Elliott but it is a home-grown attack that has helped them stand out.
Aussie Michael Kasprowicz is fifth in a list of wicket-takers headed by David Harrison and the evergreen spinner Robert Croft.
