National League D1, Headingley: Surrey 202 all out beat Yorkshire 200-8 by two runs
Points: Surrey 4, Yorkshire 0
England captain Michael Vaughan showcased his form ahead of the fifth Test with an impressive 90 but it was not enough to prevent Surrey securing a thrilling win.
Vaughan put on 120 runs with Vic Craven (47) for the fifth wicket, steering Yorkshire to 188-4 and in clear sight of victory.
But the run-outs of both batsmen sparked a collapse that saw the hosts lose four wickets for 10 runs and run out of time.
The win makes Surrey virtually uncatchable for National League honours, and they can take the title early with victory over Kent on Wednesday.
Martin Bicknell advertised his fitness to England selectors, bowling out his nine overs and conceding just 21 runs for the scalp of the outgoing New Zealand skipper Stephen Fleming.
Earlier, Yorkshire's discarded England all-rounder Anthony McGrath returned 4-41.
Recalled England batsman Graham Thorpe was caught off his bowling for just two, while Matthew Hoggard finished with figures of 1-57 on his return match from injury.
