Brown leads Lions charge
National League D1, Leicester: Surrey 218-3 (28.2 overs) bt Leicestershire 217-8 (45 overs) by 7 wickets

Brown lead the Surrey run chase
Ali Brown smashed 89 off 65 balls as Surrey increased their lead at the top of the National League with a seven-wicket win.

Brown, dropped at slip by Darren Maddy on one, cracked 14 fours and two sixes as the Lions raced to their target of 218 with 16.4 overs to spare.

The Foxes were restricted to 217 for eight, with Lions skipper Adam Hollioake taking four for 35 in his nine overs.

To add to Leicestershire's woes, skipper Phil DeFreitas was hit on the toe by a yorker from James Ormond and was unable to bowl, though he went on to hit 39.

Brown and Ian Ward put on 131 for the first wicket in just 16 overs as Surrey made a bold bid to improve their run rate.

Brown was finally caught by Maddy at short mid-on as he tried to pull Hodge.

Ward finished the job, hitting an unbeaten 70 from 65 balls.
