Notts get worst of draw
County Championship D1, Leicester: Leicestershire 243 & 5-1 drew with Nottinghamshire 326 & 318-6 dec
Points: Nottinghamshire 10, Leicestershire 8

Nottinghamshire's hopes of avoiding the Division One relegation zone took a hit as rain ruined the final day of their Championship meeting with Leicestershire.

With the hosts perched precariously at 5-1, needing a highly unlikely 401 for victory, Notts could have expected to wrap up their second victory of the season on Tuesday.

But rain confined the teams to the Grace Road pavilion throughout the morning, and umpires Jeff Evans and Trevor Jesty only waited until lunch-time.

Notts take 10 points from the match, having bowled their local rivals out 83 runs behind their first innings 326, but they remain third-from-bottom in the table.

Leicestershire remain rooted to the bottom after their fifth draw of the year.

Leicestershire: J K Maunders, V Sehwag, D L Maddy, B J Hodge, D I Stevens, P A Nixon (Wkt), J N Snape, P A J DeFreitas (Capt), D D Masters, C E Dagnall, R M Amin.

Nottinghamshire: D J Bicknell, J E R Gallian (Capt), G E Welton, K P Pietersen, G D Clough, C L Cairns, R J Warren (Wkt), P J Franks, A J Harris, S C G MacGill, G J Smith.
