County Championship D1, Trent Bridge, day two: Nottinghamshire 211 and 94-6 v Surrey 393
Azhar Mahmood scored 98 to put Surrey firmly on course for their first victory of the season at Trent Bridge.
Mahmood matched team-mate Alec Stewart's score from day one before being caught by Chris Read off Steve Elworthy as Surrey took a first-innings lead of 182 runs.
And Martin Bicknell and Jimmy Ormond then ripped through the Notts top order to leave the home side on the brink of an innings defeat.
Bicknell dismissed his brother Darren for a duck before Ormond removed Guy Welton (4), Usman Afzaal (0) and Bilal Shafayat (10) in quick succession.
Bicknell then picked up the wickets of Notts captain Jason Gallian and Read.
Mahmood's heroics had helped Surrey race from their overnight total of 159-5 to 393 all out at almost a run a ball.
He dominated hectic stands of 49 with Saqlain Mushtaq and 82 with Alex Tudor, and Adam Hollioake also chipped in with a knock of 35.
