Lancs opt for batting practice
Graham Lloyd
Tour match, Liverpool, day four:
West Indies A 369 & 361-5 dec. drew with Lancashire 279 & 265-3

West Indies A endured a day of frustration as their four-day tour match against Lancashire drifted to an aimless draw at Liverpool.

The tourists declared on their overnight 361 for five with skipper Daren Ganga on 139 not out, but Lancashire showed no inclination to chase an improbable victory target of 452.

With Graham Lloyd leading the way with 77 - his second half-century of the match - Lancashire suffered few alarms and closed on 265 for three.

The tourists used seven bowlers but made little headway on a good batting pitch.

The pick of their attack was paceman Reon King, who failed to take a wicket but demanded respect from 14 hostile overs which yielded only 20 runs.

Apart from Lloyd, there were solid contributions from opener Mark Currie, who made 48 on his first-class debut before being forced to retire hurt after being hit on the hand by a King delivery.

Fellow opener Alec Swann (45) and former Yorkshire captain David Byas (39) also took advantage to grab some valuable time in the middle before both captains decided to call an early halt to proceedings.
