Stubbings steers Derbys home
Stubbings hit 13 fours in his innings
Norwich Union League D2, Derby
Derbyshire 177-3 (41.1 overs) beat Lancashire 174-4 (45 overs) by seven wickets Steve Stubbings hit a fluent unbeaten 96 as Derbyshire went top of the table with a comfortable win over Lancashire. Earlier, Dominic Cork was one of three Derbyshire bowlers to produce economical two-wicket spells as Lancashire were restricted to 174 from their 45 overs. Warren Hegg's 29 was the highest score by a Lancashire batsmen as several players were guilty of getting in but then losing their wickets. Kevin Dean and Jason Kerr also took two wickets apiece as Lancashire, who have won just once in the competition this summer, found themselves in trouble yet again. Stubbings and Andrew Gait put on 52 for the first wicket before John Wood struck twice, removing Gait for 16 and Graeme Welch for just two. Michael Di Venuto was alos out cheaply, but it mattered not as Cork (28 not out off 36 balls) was able to guide his team to victory in partnership with Stubbings.
