Worcestershire lost their last five wickets for 89 runs against Warwickshire at Edgbaston.

But they would not have been complaining too much as they amassed a massive 524 against the promotion contenders.

Graeme Hick reactivated a stop-start season with a double century.

He resumed on 196 not out and clinched the double ton before Neil Carter clinched his wicket on 201.

In reply, Warwickshire were 128-2 at tea.

Michael Powell was the first man out, when he went for five runs to Alamgir Sheriyar.

Then Ian Bell was trapped lbw to Christopher Liptrot for four to plunge Warwicks into trouble on 30-2.

But Mark Wagh and David Hemp steadied the ship.

There was a century stand by Wagh and Hemp as Warwicks reached 223 for four, still 301 behind, at the close.

Warwickshire: M J Powell (Capt), M A Wagh, I R Bell, D L Hemp J O Troughton, D R Brown, N M K Smith, K J Piper (Wkt), N M Carter V C Drakes, A Richardson.
