Click here for scorecard A quick-fire half century from Mark Ramprakash was not enough as Surrey crashed to a 67-run defeat by Yorkshire at Headingley. Surrey remain firmly rooted to the bottom of the First Division with only one win from nine matches, despite Ramprakash's 58 from 81 balls. They were bowled out for 163 in 40 overs in reply to Yorkshire's 230-7. Ramprakash fought hard but was badly let down by a lack of support. By the time Saqlain Mushtaq joined the England player, it was too late to salvage the match. Poor innnings The eighth-wicket pair put on 58 in 11 overs but the partnership ended when Ramprakash steered a catch to backward point off the slow left-arm bowling of Darren Lehmann. Saqlain was left unbeaten on 38 having faced 44 balls and the pair provided the only substantial contributions to a sorry Surrey innings. The visitors were destroyed by seamer Chris Elstub, who was called up for his first appearance of the season by Yorkshire, and responded with four for 25 in eight overs. Yorkshire batted well He took two of those wickets in his first over, bowling Nadeem Shahid with his first delivery and then trapping Ian Ward, who also returned from England duty, lbw for 17. When Alistair Brown was caught down the leg side by Richard Blakey off Matthew Hoggard for a duck Surrey were 35 for three and in deep trouble. Elstub bowled Ben Hollioake and returned for a second spell late in the innings to have Ed Giddins caught behind. Yorkshire batted strongly, with openers Matthew Wood and Gavin Hamilton putting on 94 in 22 overs. Bicknell impresses After Wood's departure, caught behind off Carl Greenidge, Hamilton progressed to a half-century from 90 balls which he reached with a straight six off Saqlain. Hamilton fell for 57 to acting captain Martin Bicknell, who was leading Surrey in the absence of the injured Adam Hollioake. Bicknell was by far Surrey's best bowler and he also dismissed Gary Fellows for 11 and Anthony McGrath for 31 on his way to three for 20 in nine overs. But Saqlain could not break through in his stint of nine overs and Yorkshire were given some extra late thrust by skipper David Byas, who hit a six and four fours in 30 made from 19 deliveries.
