Kevin Pietersen and John Morris plundered Derbyshire's bowlers to share a Nottinghamshire sixth wicket record of 372 in their drawn match.

The bowling included seven overs from wicketkeeper Karl Krikken and some off-spin from Dominic Cork.

Kevin Dean had briefly raised the possibility of a positive result by taking three wickets in 27 balls in the morning but the game had become an exercise in futility long before the close.

The lifeless pitch yielded 1665 over the four days, but after early wickets Notts were 139 in front with five wickets down.

But Pietersen and Morris settled in. Morris, who is retiring at the end of this season, followed his first innings 170 with an unbeaten 136 while Pietersen was also still there at the end, having made 218.

Pietersen's first hundred came off 145 balls and Morris reached three figures from 153 balls.

Pietersen laid into the bowling and clubbed another seven sixes on his way to a double century which came off only 212 balls and the English sixth wicket record of 411 was in their sights until the pair tired of the slaughter.

Morris had begun to block a good half-hour before the end and Pietersen also offered a dead bat through the final overs of a match that also included 159 extras, another record for any game in Derbyshire's history.
