Nottinghamshire reached a target of 458 to beat Worcestershire by seven wickets after 65 minutes' play on the final day at New Road.

Greg Blewett joined captain Darren Bicknell as the second century-maker as they made 461 for three - their highest-ever winning score in a fourth innings since 1926.

It was their first win of the season and only their third in 24 games at the lower level.

Most of the hard work was done on Sunday when Bicknell led from the front with 104 in a total of 367 for two.

Dramatic turnaround

He shared in century partnerships with John Morris (94) and Blewett.

Only 91 was required on the final day and Blewett, 99 overnight, moved into three figures with a single in the first over.

Alamgir Sheriyar achieved a consolation breakthrough when Afzaal was lbw after making 88 in a third-wicket stand of 145 from 43 overs.

Paul Johnson pulled Philip Weston for four to settle the result in little more than an hour by making 26 from 28 balls.

Australian Blewett was unbeaten on 134 with 19 fours from 218 balls in contributing to one of the biggest turnarounds in first-class cricket.

Both sides were dismissed on a first day of 20 wickets and Nottinghamshire recovered from the depths of 51 for seven in their first innings.
