Rob Turner was the hero as he hit a boundary off the last ball of the match as the Somerset Sabres tied their Norwich Union League match against Kent at Tunbridge Wells.

Wicket-keeper Turner made 56 not out off 69 balls and scooped the final ball of the match bowled by Kent skipper Matthew Fleming over opposite number Paul Nixon's head for four to share the points.

Turner scored 14 of the 15 runs Somerset needed to win off the last over, but they had looked well out of it at 92 for five with just under 20 overs left.

But a stand of 62 in 12 overs between Turner and Keith Dutch helped them stay in contention until Dutch was stumped by Nixon off Fleming for 28 with the total at 154.

Then James Golding sent back Peter Trego (4) and Jason Kerr (0) in the penultimate over, only for Turner to help Somerset to an unlikely share of the spoils.

Early scalps

Earlier, Ben Trott bowled an impressive spell of 19 for two in nine overs.

He trapped Somerset skipper Jamie Cox, who scored 21 out of the first 25, and when Michael Burns (32) was well caught high above his head by David Fulton, Kent looked on course for victory.

Kent struggled after a brisk start through James Hockley's 41 off 31 balls - 32 of them in boundaries - but none of the other Kent batsmen found runs as easy to come by.

Stefan Jones was the pick of the bowlers, claiming three for 29.
