Captain Rinke aims high for Scarborough Cricket Club

Struggling Scarborough Cricket Club is still targeting a top three finish in the Yorkshire Premier League.

Captain Piet Rinke's side has had a mixed start to the season and Rinke admitted to BBC Radio York there is still much work to be done.

"If we're being realistic with the start that we've had it's going to be difficult but we still want to finish top three.

"To be honest we don't think we're going to bowl too many sides out."

However Rinke continued: "We're going to pride ourselves on trying to contain teams and back our batting where we've got the big depth. It might just put a little pressure on us, but hopefully we'll be able to come to the forefront."

We've got the depth and the club's in a healthy position

Rinke is hoping some of the younger members of the club will make their mark this season.

"The potential of the team is a lot higher than what the achievements might be coming forward.

"We've got some fantastic young players. We've got the depth and the club's in a healthy position from that angle that our youngsters are now coming to the forefront and getting the opportunity to play in the first team and gain experience from that.

"There's still a big learning curve but every club has that. You've got to keep building and constantly look to the future."
