Trio earn Indian call-up
Sourav Ganguly
Ganguly will lead the Indian one-day squad in Kenya
Sourav Ganguly will captain an Indian squad containing three new faces in the ICC Trophy one-day tournament in Kenya next month.

The 14-man squad for the competition in Nairobi was named after a two-hour selection meeting in Nairobi on Thursday, the Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.

All-rounder Yuvraj Singh, left-arm medium pacer Zakir Khan and wicketkeeper Vijay Dahiya were called up to the squad for the first time.

Left-handed batsman Vinod Kambli and medium pacers Venkatesh Prasad and Ajit Agarkar return.

The Nairobi tournament involves all 10 Test-playing countries, plus Kenya, and begins on 3 October.

For the first time in two decades, the Indian squad contains seven left-handed batsmen, PTI said.

Dropped

Earlier this month, Indian selectors left out former captains Mohammed Azharuddin and Ajay Jadeja, off-spinner Nikhil Chopra and wicket-keeper Nayan Mongia from the list of 23 probables for the tournament.

They have been questioned by federal investigators following a match-fixing scandal triggered last April when Delhi police accused South African skipper Hansie Cronje of corruption.

Former India opener Anshuman Gaekwad will be the Indian coach after ex-skipper Kapil Dev, also under investigation in the match-fixing scandal, quit the job last week halfway through his two-year term.

Indian squad: Saurav Ganguly (captain), Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli, Hemang Badani, Sridharan Sriram, Yuvraj Singh, Vijay Dahiya, Robin Singh, Sunil Joshi, Anil Kumble, Ajit Agarkar, Venkatesh Prasad, Zakir Khan.
