Cornwall miss out on last eight of MCCA Trophy

Cricket

Cornwall fell agonisingly short of making the last eight of the MCCA Trophy after losing at home to Wales.

Wales racked up 238-7 in their 50 overs thanks to 84 from Nickolas James and 81 from Dion Holden.

In reply, a fluent 84 by David Roberts put Cornwall in the position of needing just three to win from the last over.

Wales restricted the hosts to just two runs and they finished the session on 238-9, a result which left Cornwall third in the group stages.

Elsewhere, Wiltshire and local rivals Devon sealed wins to book their place in the quarter-finals.
