Dan Wilson now holds the YPL record of 1,542 runs in a season

Australian opener Dan Wilson set a new Yorkshire Premier League record for runs in a season as champions York ended on a winning note. Wilson hit 58 in York's five-wicket win at Cleethorpes to finish the campaign with 1,542 runs. "He's set the benchmark and that's the target he has to beat next season," said York all-rounder Nick Kay. Tom Bartram took 6-47 as Cleethorpes were dismissed for 131, before York replied with 132-5. Ashley Hulme was also in the runs for York, making 37 not out on his return from Holland. Scarborough finished second in the table, one point above Yorkshire Academy, after a seven-wicket win at Harrogate. The home side made 181, which was "100 runs short of what we needed" according to Harrogate skipper John Proud, who made 69. James Finch took 6-55 and Simon Tennant 3-63. In reply, Darren Harland carried his bat to make 83 not out and Mark Tennant made 62 to win in 36.4 overs. "We've pulled together this year, it's just that we've fallen agonisingly short," said Harland on finishing just behind champions York. "Overall we've played some good cricket. We know we're not far away, we look to next year and, hopefully, go one better," he said. Harrogate also have better times to look forward to as batsman Alexis Twigg is the latest big name from their recent past to agree to return to St Georges Road next season.
