Alex Cusack hit a patient unbeaten 55 to steady the Irish innings

Alex Cusack hit an half-century to give Ireland the edge at the end of day three of the Intercontinental Cup game against Kenya at Eglinton. Regan West took four wickets as Kenya were bowled out on Sunday morning for 331, giving the hosts a 73-run lead. Steve Tikolo took the wickets of openers Paul Stirling and Jeremy Bray and Ireland were struggling at 89-4. But Cusack (55 not out) and Andrew White (29 not out) put on a stand of 50 as Ireland closed on 139-4. Stirling went for six while the powerful Bray was dismissed for 15. Andre Botha (four) was run-out while Kevin O'Brien scored 21. The Africans resumed on 239-6 in response to Ireland's 404 but fell 73 runs short with Jimmy Kamande top-scoring with 73. West had figures of 4-94 while Trent Johnston picked up two wickets. Kyle McCallan, Peter Connell and White also chipped in with a dismissal for the Irish. West had earlier starred with the bat, hitting an unbeaten 44 to help the hosts to their 404 total in their first innings.
