Guernsey beat Japan by seven wkts

Cricket: Guernsey v Japan
Jeremy Frith top scored with 56 as Guernsey eased to their target

Guernsey earned their second win in the ICC WCL Division Seven with Tuesday's seven-wicket victory over Japan.

In reply to a modest Japanese score of 150-8 (Ko Irie 49), Guernsey lost both openers before being steadied by 56 not out from Jeremy Frith to reach 152-3.

"Keeping them to three an over made the batting easier and meant we didn't have to take chances," said Frith.

"We bowled really well in the first part of the game," man of the match Frith told BBC Guernsey.

"The seamers pulled it back really nicely and created plenty of pressure to keep them to three an over, throughout the 50 overs.

"The good job the bowlers did gave us time as batters to make sure we didn't take any risks and just bat and bat and bat, which is what we did and we got over the line."

After the loss of Matt Oliver leg before and fellow opener Lee Savident who was bowled, Frith came in at three to partner Kris Moherndl, who also then went lbw.

But Ross Kneller, replacing the injured Justin Meades, came in for a successful World League debut, helping Frith home on 44 with 11 and a half overs to spare.
