Hampshire chairman Rod Bransgrove says he has not made an approach for Yorkshire batsman Michael Vaughan.
The former England captain is reported to be considering a new start at another county.
Bransgrove told BBC Radio Solent: "It doesn't surprise me that the link has been made at this time but i haven't spoke to Michael since he resigned."
"Every time any player gets remotely available he gets associated with us," Bransgrove added.
Vaughan, under contract to Yorkshire for another season, was recently reported to have said: "I am not sure where the speculation is coming from, but I am getting fed up with it. I am just trying to find some form with Yorkshire."
